Penny Howarth Ceramic Artist

Penny grew up in remote Cornish coastal village. During Penny’s morning commute to her place of study, she would board a Ferry and cross a deep and dark estuary. The rolling waters and jagged Cornish coast providing a strong source of inspiration for her work. Many of Penny’s pieces recreate the sea, the green fields, golden beaches, the communities of Cornwall; fishing boats, harbours, granite stone manors, beautiful cottages precariously perched on the cliff tops.

Penny is focused on bringing people joy with her work. Made by hand, they are always individually completely unique and one of a kind. Items are hand stamped with the PJH Penny Pottery “pot” logo. Penny Pottery was created by Penny in order to create channels to share and sell her work all over the world. Penny has partnered with major online retailers and smaller local galleries to ensure her pieces are accessible to all.

Penny is focused on only leaving the mark of beautiful art on the world. Items are created with sustainability in mind. Each piece is fired in a pair of electric kilns in a workshop at the bottom of her garden. The kilns draw power from 100% renewable sources (Solar & Wind). Her items are packed in reused, recyclable or biodegradable packaging. Unused clay is recycled to keep waste down to a minimum.

Penny lives in the county of Surrey in the United Kingdom with her husband Christopher. She has 3 children and 2 cats.
